2006
2006 was certainly a busy year.
The July Tidworth Area Festival was bigger and better this year . Walker Sound was pleased to supply the system for the main stage for Elite Promotions and Events for the first time. The weather was glorious, and the tent for our Front of House was redundant. Top of the bill was Chico, who was still signing autographs after we had loaded the truck two hours later !! Other artists performing were Dream Capture, Ellie Myles, Fallen Angelz, 4th BA5E and Anika Yvonne-Paul.
Walker Sound became the preferred supplier to the Kings Theatre Southsea. We handled all shows which did not tour with their own sound kit. We were very pleased to supply systems for The Groundlings Theatre Company, Portsmouth Grammar School and The New Pantomime Company.
After a year away in 2005, we again provided sound for the Center Stage feature at Erotica 2006 - Olympia. Sorry no pictures for this one Performing were Dita Von Teese, Tiffany's Show and Adora.
Further investment in equipment enabled Walker Sound to provide sound services to more clients with fast turnaround times. When the central feature stage at Olympia's Erotica 2006 was in full show mode, we were pre rigging the speakers on the trussing at the NEC for the BBC's Good Food Show main theatre.
Sound, Lighting and Vision Crew with Gordon Ramsey at the end of show.
Again at the close of the Good Food Show on Sunday night, we had already rigged The Kings Theatre for Portsmouth Grammar School's production of Guy's and Dolls, ready for the following Monday morning. The same Monday we were rigging a system for the W H Smith annual conference, Awards Ceremony and Gala night at Uffingham Park near Gatwick.
Three weeks of back to back shows with overnight trucking and equipment prepping, but it didn't stop there. At the Kings Theatre following Guy's and Dolls the system was used the next day for the Salvation Army Christmas Carol Concert. A quick reset and we were into 4 weeks of Pantomime - Oh yes we were ! .......

2005
ClassicAlive, a new exhibition held at Olympia in March 2005 was a challenge to run sound in two main theatres, a seminar room and a 5.1 surround system room. The winning combination of Meyer, Midas, Schoeps and DPA for the theatre's sound helped to succeed in a difficult environment. Amongst the performers were Julian Lloyd Webber, Derek Han, GeNIA, London Schubert Players Chamber Orchestra and Hayley Westenra.
Thanks to my engineers Jerry Eade, Tim Daniels and Giacomo Fazio for making this project such a success.
Summer June and July 2005, was a busy time for many sound hire companies. Portsmouth alone hosted the Fleet Review and Festival of the Sea. Some London based companies had used all of their resources on large scale events.
Walker Sound provided engineering services for Summer XS at the Milton Keynes Bowl for artists including McFly, Daniel Bedingfield, Rooster, Jem, Charlotte Church and Texas.
The Live 8 concert in Hyde Park also stretched resources. Walker Sound again engineered for Sound Hire who were providing equipment for Delta Sound for two large relay screens at the southern end of Hyde Park and one in Regents Park.
July 2005 also kept us busy in the main fashion stage at the Asian Lifestyle Show at Olympia, and induction loop systems for the BT AGM in Harrogate and O2 AGM in Reading. |

2004
November 2004 once again saw us dashing from one end of the country to the other with some annual shows, and a few more.
Longleat was the host for 2004's Autumn conference for W H Smith for MEI Digital Ltd, at Longleat's Center Parks.
Walker Sound again supplied sound for the main stage at Erotica 2004 at the Grand Hall - Olympia. The main stage show has been produced by Derek Halliday Productions on behalf of the organizers. The show will also be at G-MEX Manchester in 2005.
The BBC's Good Food Show at the NEC saw us in the Super Theatre. This was Walker Sound's fifth year at the show for White Rabbit Enterprises Ltd. The country’s biggest food extravaganza reads like a Who’s Who, with demonstrations and appearances by all the favorite chefs including Jamie Oliver, Antony Worrall Thompson, Gordon Ramsay, Ainsley Harriott, Brian Turner, Ken Hom, Rick Stein, Phil Vickery, Gary Rhodes and more! |
